Panic on the streets of San Diego

I’m not so big on staying out late on a Sunday night – I usually like to use my Sunday evenings to prep for the week ahead. But that’s no fun, particularly when a band that I really like is in town, and playing a couple of miles from my house! So on Monday, I bought the tickets, and off we went last night to the House of Blues.

If you’ve never been to a show at the House of Blues, I highly recommend it. The space is very small, standing only, and really, no seat is a bad seat. We had a prime view of the stage from the upper bar area. I attempted some pictures, but with the light show and dark of the rest of the room, they came out pretty ick. Oh well. Lots of people spent the entire show filming or taking pictures, and that’s cool, but I prefer to just sit back and enjoy the experience.

Panic at the Disco put on a great show, with plenty of lighting and theatrics. And I was pleasantly surprised to see that my husband and I were not, in fact, the oldest people there! Mainly because it was parents that had brought their teenage kids! :oP. It got me thinking, that when/if I have kids, will I take them to concerts? I really, really hope that I do.

Have a happy Monday everyone!

Duran Duran

I haven't updated for a few days because lo and behold, I'm sick again. I think that the travel this weekend to see my family weakened my system and made me susceptible to another cold/sore throat.

However, illness did not deter me from seeing one of my favorite bands on Tuesday night!

I've seen Duran Duran once before, and I was excited to go again. Their music just never gets old for me. It also helps that John Taylor is my ultimate crush (since I was maybe...7?). I have a strong draw towards Simon as well. His voice is amazing, and that he never misses a note throughout a 2-hour set is incredible. I admire how their sound has evolved while still maintaining the elements that made them great.

And Sex and the City comes out tonight! Will Carrie marry Mr. Big? I can't wait to find out!

And it becomes stranger....

If you read my last post, I had an incredibly surreal dream involving Lou Reed. For some reason today, I went on the website for the 9:30 Club to see who will be playing in the next few months.
And he's playing there in April. Are the fates trying to tell me something?
I believe that I have no choice but to revolutionize the world and attend.
I've never seen him live, and he's one of my idols, so I think that seeing him soon would be a good idea.

My strange dreams

I have a lot of strange dreams (who doesn't?). I'm usually lucky enough to remember them, which has rendered a lot of stories and interesting conversations over the years. Do you put stock in the goings-on of your dreams? I actually do.

My line of thought follows this logic: most people, if not all, have dreams about their teeth falling out. This is not an inspired dream, such as nervousness about a dental appointment or cavities or necessarily hearing about someone else's tooth dreams. For most, this is a completely original dream. However, most people have this dream, and it usually coincides with stressful situations (tests, workloads, etc). Therefore, there must be something to dreams and what we dream, right?

In my dreams last night, I was auditioning for a huge singing gig, like touring in a national festival or something, and I was worried that I would mess up, that I was not good enough, my band would be late, etc. My band gets there (with Spike from Buffy as the drummer, woohoo!), and we start to play. In the audience is none other than Lou Reed himself, clapping for us! He was going to help us become famous, and then there were rats and mice everywhere, and I woke up.

I was thinking of this dream as I drove to work this morning, and the first song on my iPod was "Viscious." Curiouser and curiouser.
